B&B Bag-Making Machine

Side Gusset Bags

Mono-material side gusset bags, made efficient through intelligent automation.

B&B SFB machines convert laminated and mono-material films into side gusset bags — also known as quad-seal bags, four-side-seal bags or pouches — at up to 80 cycles per minute. Longitudinal single-roll production, automatic positioning and a fully modular set of options — reclosures, carrying handles, folded and flat bottoms, inline laser features — keep waste low and your product range wide, from 1–25 kg pet-food packs to a broad spread of consumer goods.

Overview

Efficient processes through intelligent automation

B&B side gusset bag machines convert laminated films into finished side gusset bags — also called quad-seal bags, four-side-seal bags or pouches. Widely used in pet food (typically 1–25 kg) and across consumer goods, they combine longitudinal production, automatic positioning and waste reduction to deliver stable, economical output.

A fully modular architecture means the machine is configured to your product: choose the reclosure, bottom and carrying system you need, add inline laser perforation or ventilation, and extend to a fully automated end-of-line with the LEAP robotic packaging solution — all built around mono-material films for a cleaner recycling stream.

A front reclosure is applied to the flat film web and sealed only with the front side of the bag, while a top reclosure closes across the mouth of the finished bag — so the right choice depends on how your pack is opened and refilled.

Automation

Automated end-of-line with LEAP

Extend the SFB into a fully automated line with LEAP — B&B's robotic packaging solution. Finished bags are handled, grouped and packed automatically, lifting throughput and consistency while freeing operators from repetitive end-of-line tasks.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Longitudinal or transversal production — which should I choose?
Longitudinal (machine-direction) production runs from a single roll and is the most efficient, low-waste choice for most side gusset bags. Transversal production feeds the web across the machine and suits specific formats and higher-volume flat-bottom applications where multiple rolls are combined.
How long does a format changeover take?
A format changeover takes less than 60 minutes, with semi-automatic format change and recipe management keeping the switch between products fast and repeatable.
Can it make flat-bottom bags?
Yes. With the flat-bottom (FFB) configuration the SFB produces flat-bottom bags, and options such as terminated side gussets and top reclosures can be combined to build premium retail packs.
When do transversal machines suit an application?
Transversal machines (e.g. the SFB 10E-T) are a good fit for larger flat-bottom formats and higher outputs where two to three rolls are run together, and where the bag geometry benefits from cross-direction production.
Is laser technology available for perforations and ventilation?
Yes. Inline laser technology can be integrated for perforations and ventilation features — useful for products such as fresh produce or pet food that require controlled breathability.
What does the LEAP robotic solution add?
LEAP automates the end of the line — handling, grouping and packing finished bags — to raise throughput and consistency and reduce manual handling, turning the SFB into a fully automated bag-making and packaging cell.
