The edge geometry that decides contact area, friction and how the blade wears.
Blade edge profiles
Two blades in the same steel and the same thickness behave completely differently depending on how the edge is ground. The profile sets the contact area against the roller, the friction, and whether that contact area stays constant as the blade wears.
PrimeBlade grind four standard profiles. Profile 50 is the most commonly used edge today in both flexo and gravure, chosen because its contact area stays constant during wear.
Four standard edge geometries
Profile 10
Mostly used in coating but also gravure and flexo printing. Wipes well up to the point when the contact zone becomes too large. Available in bevel angles of 2° & 15°, can be supplied in higher angles.
Profile 25
Used in for flexo, gravure, lamination and coating. Polished radius ends for instant run in and excellent seal against roller. Double sided radius edge.
Profile 50
Most commonly used edge today in both flexo and gravure. Constant contact area during wear. Lower friction and wear against roller. Standard dimension 1,3/0,07mm for gravure and 1,3/0,10mm for flexo, but can be produced according to requirement.
