Pinned lags
Beech laminated wood and aluminium lags for tearing and fibre-opening machines.
The cheapest lag is not the most economic one

Tambula produces high-performance lags for all tearing machines and for fibre-opening machines, whatever fibre material is being torn or opened. Optimal fibre separation and long durability come from the quality of the lag and the service life of the pins.
Their own argument is worth repeating: the cheapest lag is not always the most economic one. Long maintenance intervals, short reconstruction times from low tolerances, and optimal production results are what justify investing in high-quality components — it depends on the total cost of the fibre-opening system.
Beech laminated wood or aluminium serve as the carrier material, and only pins of the highest German quality are used. Dimensional accuracy is held on modern CNC machines, which is what allows immediate assembly and shorter maintenance downtime.

Entries marked “—” are not published for that carrier material. Both types are made to customer drawing or questionnaire; normally only the machine type and the desired pin density are needed.
Pin types and what they do
Round pins
The standard pin. Can be inserted radially or diagonally — angled pins are more aggressive and open better, but a lag with angled pins cannot be turned when one side wears.
Flat pins
More aggressive and more stable than round pins.
Sword-type pins
Flat pins with an optimised form and an oval profile — the most aggressive and most stable of the three.
German pin quality
Only pins of the highest German quality are used, which gives higher performance through longer service life even on difficult fibre materials.
Complete and reworked cylinders
Complete cylinders for recycling or opening machines consist of a base body fitted with spiked lags in aluminium or laminated wood. They open or tear fibres, and also serve as retention and feeding rollers in feeders. Tambula supplies complete units pre-finished to machine factories against the customer drawing, and will support new constructions to find a more efficient and cheaper solution. Existing cylinders can be reworked, although this is now unusual — the precision of the profiles and fixing holes means installing new lags is rarely a problem.
