High-barrier film that protects food and reduces waste

Roughly a third of the food produced globally is lost to transport damage or spoilage. High-quality barrier films protect food and other sensitive goods worldwide, enabling hygienic packaging and significantly reducing food loss — and as global demand for food protection grows, so do the demands on packaging performance and sustainability.

The FILMEX II for barrier applications, part of W&H’s new generation of cast film lines, is built to meet them. W&H extruders provide exceptional melt quality and uniform melt-temperature distribution, automatically controlled by precise gravimetric loss-in-weight dosing — for superior machine-direction tolerances and excellent single-layer precision, and therefore reliable barrier, sealing and deep-draw performance. The unique universal W&H smooth barrier screws process all common cast film resins without ever needing to be changed, while a specially designed air knife ensures uniform melt lay-on, high cooling efficiency, clarity and transparency.

Up to 13 layers, with exceptional single-layer precision and best-in-class MD and TD thickness tolerances — W&H extruders and precise gravimetric dosing deliver the consistent film properties that reliable barrier, sealing and deep-draw performance depend on.

Winding built for downstream

The FILMATIC II TC turret cast winder produces excellent single reels or multiple ups with high reel concentricity and repeatable winding hardness — making direct downstream processing possible without prior rewinding. Fully integrated PROCONTROL TS automation covers everything from resin conveying to the winder.
