Lab Line — what it covers

COLLIN Presses E, E air & P Entrance

The Lab Line is COLLIN's laboratory range — the machines material developers, compounders and universities use to run trials at gram-to-kilogram scale before committing to production.

Two series run through most of it. E for Entrance is the compact, cost-efficient version for laboratory operation and test series; P for Professional is the higher-specification version built for pilot series and small production runs, with wider temperature ranges and modular screw geometries.

Almost every machine is available in several sizes, and the published technical data below is Collin's own.

The Type E Series Platen Press is the entrance version among the COLLIN presses. As 4-column design with fixed upper counter plate and moveable lower plate, the COLLIN presses cover an enormous pressure range. Due to the large distance between the columns, optimal handling possibilities in the interior of the press are created.

Technical description The unit includes a moveable base frame, on which the components are mounted. Compounders E Entrance

Compounders are used for testing, developing and producing different polymeric materials such as thermoplasts, elastomers, food and for medical & pharmaceutical applications. The Compounder Type E Entrance is perfectly suitable for simple compounding works. The standard machine can very variably compound different polymers and is very flexible regarding dosing – side feeders, volumetric or gravimetric dosing units.

Stretching frames

for stretching plastic films Biaxial

Stretching frames are used for biaxial stretching of plastic films. It is worth mentioning that these machines are especially designed for a film thickness of up to 3.5 mm and for stretching at temperature of up to 400°C. Technical description The basic component of the unit are clips. Each clip has a fixed lower part and a movable upper part. A special design enables an increase of the clamping force to approx.

Flat Film Lines with 2 rolls

for cast films Laminating of films

This basic unit includes two rolls in horizontal position, suitable for cast films. COLLIN designs the rolls according to the customer requirements such as for example speed, roll width, roll coating etc. The roll group is horizontally arranged, suitable for a vertical die position. The roll group consists of a cast roll as well as a cooling roll. Both rolls are driven by one motor.

Filament winder

for strands or small hoses Compact, modular, freely configurable

COLLIN filament winders are especially suitable for flexible strands or small hoses with diameters of 0.5 up to 4 mm. The winder has a modular design and is thus freely configurable. The strand runs via a filament guidance, then via a dancer system, is traversed and then wound. The winding unit has one or two winding stations – two can be operated sequentially or parallelly.

High-Performance Presses S & SV

The Platen Presses S and SV are high-performance versions of the COLLIN presses. The S series for servo hydraulics convinces by its ergonomic, space-saving and modern design – the efficient servo hydraulics by its quiet operation, the highly precise pressure control and a low energy consumption. Moreover, due to this concept, cooling water is no longer required.

The E series extruders are the entrance version among the COLLIN extruders. Designed for laboratory operation and for test series in R&D, the compact lines are a cost-efficient alternative to the P Professional series extruders. The laboratory extruder is mounted on a moveable electrical cabinet, which includes the power electronics and the main switch.

These COLLIN flat film lines combine smoothing calender and chill roll and are used in the production of thin-walled or thick-walled films. Strand pelletizers are used for cutting thermoplastic plastic strands. Strand pelletizers The COLLIN strand pelletizer basic system has one drive – for a pre-defined pellet length of approx. 3 mm. COLLIN Blown Film Lines P (water-cooled)

Blown Film Lines P (water-cooled)

These lines are designed for film production. The radial distributor system ensures an exact thickness distribution, the vertical extrusion into a water-cooled ring guarantees an optimal film transparency. Several elevated extruders feed into the multi-layer die. The hose is guided downwards into a water-cooled ring, then laid flat, dried, if necessary cut and wound on rolls.
