Ceramic anilox rollers

The ceramic anilox roller is the component that meters ink onto the plate, and its engraving decides how much ink transfers, how cleanly, and how fine a screen you can hold. Zecher laser-engrave a chromium oxide ceramic layer to produce the cell structure.
What distinguishes the range is the number of engraving geometries available — seven, from the Hexa 60° standard through to the open Trihelical and the utility-model-protected SteppedHex®. The right one depends on ink system, substrate and the screen you need to hold.
Seven engravings, one per application
Hexa 60°
The established standard engraving, used for high-quality results across flexographic printing and coating.
SteppedHex®
Protected by a German utility model. A staggered cell geometry based on the 60° angle that connects three consecutive cells, letting you raise the screen ruling without losing significant volume. Works with all ink systems.
H.I.T.
High Ink Transfer — a classic Hexa 60° engraving with specially engraved hanging cell walls and optimised cavity geometry. Higher, more homogeneous transfer using less ink. Recommended for lacquering units in offset and for coating machines.
Diamond 45°
One of Zecher's first engraving technologies, now largely superseded by Hexa 60° but still recommended for specific applications.
Trihelical
An open engraving (also called Hashur) whose open line structure gives very good transfer. Particularly suited to large-area prints and coatings.
Full-HD / HD Ready
Esko-certified engravings for high-resolution work — see the specification pyramid below for the screen rulings each level supports.
Customised
Special laser engravings manufactured from individually designed TIFF data, covering shapes and application ranges outside the standard range.
The Zecher specification pyramid
| Level | Anilox screen | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| Full HD | 460 L/cm (1170 lpi) | Halftone printing at 70–80 L/cm (180–200 l/inch) and above; finest gradients, 7-colour separations |
| HD Ready | 400 L/cm (1000 lpi) | Halftone printing at 60 L/cm (150 l/inch) and above; first step into high-resolution motifs |
| Screen 54 | — | Process printing and graduations up to 54 L/cm (140 l/inch) with full production reliability |
| Cross 48 | — | Combi engraving for halftone printing up to 48 L/cm (120 l/inch); scale and brand colours |
| Cross 40 | — | Separated colours, graduations and halftones up to 40 L/cm (100 l/inch) |
| Line Work / Solid Area | — | Intensive solid areas with text, line and barcodes; high densities, suited to highest press speeds |
| White / Solid Area | — | Best density and high opacity — the conventional solid basis |
| White H.I.T. | — | The “extra portion of white” density; reduces pinholing through optimised ink transfer |
Figures as published in Zecher's Specification Pyramid (EN). Anilox screen rulings are stated for the two HD levels; the remaining levels are defined by the plate screen they support.
H.I.T. — measured ink saving
| Substrate / engraving | Standard | H.I.T. | Saving |
|---|---|---|---|
| PET, 60 L/cm, 19 cm³/m² | 2.29 g/m² | 1.80 g/m² | ≈ 21% |
| BOPP, 140 L/cm, 17 cm³/m² | 5.73 g/m² | 4.53 g/m² | ≈ 21% |
Comparison as published in Zecher's H.I.T. technology leaflet (EN).

Where this is used
Zecher in Pakistan — through K Group
K Group is the authorized agent for Zecher in Pakistan. Send us your press make, the screen and volume you are running now and what the print is doing, and we will specify the roller — engraving, screen and volume — rather than simply repeating what was ordered last time.
